Jocelyn KikuchiSan

Nice to meet you, my name is Jocelyn Kikuchi. In 1990, I came to Japan for the first time as a migrant worker. She came to Japan several times, and on her third visit, she met a man from the same workplace and got married in 1994.I was blessed with three boys, and unfortunately my third son was ill and died at the age of two and a half.Currently, she is living with her husband, eldest son, me and my mother-in-law.My second son lives alone in Tokyo because of his job. He works while caring for his 85-year-old mother-in-law.At first, I was confused by the cultural differences and sometimes cried, but thanks to my family and the people around me, I am now busy with supporting elementary and junior high school children and students, interpreting in various fields, and so on. Masu.I will continue to do my best to give back to the people and the region of Nagano Prefecture, which I love so much.

| Country of origin | Republic of the Philippines: The Republic of the Philippines is an island nation located in Southeast Asia. The Philippine archipelago has 7,107 islands at low tide and 7,100 islands at high tide. The climate is hot all year round, but unlike Japan, the humidity is low and it is dry. There are plenty of tropical fruits, and you can harvest many delicious fruits such as bananas, durians, and mangosteens that are also known in Japan.Filipino food is predominantly ethnic.Adobo, a block of pork simmered in soy sauce, and Sinigang soup, which is a sour soup with vegetables, meat, and fish, are popular. |
| Hobbies | My hobbies are watching movies on my TV at home, and I've been into foliage plants lately. When I get home from work, I watch a short movie to give my tired body some rest. It's the most fun for me.Last year, when I renovated my 40-odd-year-old house, I was given a large-screen LCD TV as a gift from my son who lives in Tokyo. and forget about the tiredness of housework. This is the moment of bliss.I also like foliage plants because looking at the greenery of the plants makes me feel calm. |
| My favorite Nagano prefecture | There are a lot of nature, superb views, shrines and temples, castles, art galleries, museums, etc., so you will never get bored.Surrounded by mountains such as the Japanese Alps and Yatsugatake, Nagano Prefecture is a treasure trove of nature.I like it because I can feel various outfits in spring, summer, autumn and winter.Among them, I love autumn leaves. My recommendations are the cherry blossoms of Takato in the spring, the fireworks display at Lake Suwa in the summer, the autumn foliage of Tateshina in the fall, and the snowy landscape of the Northern Alps in the winter.Speaking of food, Nagano is a place where you can enjoy soba, goheimochi, eel, vegetables and fruits, apples, grapes, peaches, and watermelons all year round. |
| My favorite Japanese | My favorite Japanese phrase is "itadakimasu to gochisousama".The reason why I came to like this word is that in the Philippines, before eating a meal, people say a silent prayer as an expression of gratitude. After that, put your hands together and bow silently before eating. This is our “Itadakimasu” sign.Similarly, the gochisosama put their hands together and bowed. This is the sign of "Gochisousama or I got it".In Japan, on the other hand, people put their hands together and say out loud "Itadakimasu" and "Gochisousama".When I came to Japan, I realized how important it is to say out loud words of gratitude for the life of a creature. This kind of culture doesn't exist in the Philippines, so it's my favorite word. |
| Profile | Previously, I was in charge of cashier duties at a supermarket.I didn't have any knowledge or deep awareness of interpreting and translating work, let alone multicultural coexistence, and I wasn't confident about my Japanese ability.Currently, I am a director and in charge of Tagalog and English at "PUTZ Network Co., Ltd.", a company that realizes multicultural coexistence through multilingual support services. This was the opportunity for me to learn about the current situation of foreigners living in Japan, including myself. In addition, as an individual, I also provide services such as interpreting, translating, multilingual consultation, and support for foreign children and students at various institutions, local governments, and organizations. For details, please check the link below. https://www.putznetwork.com/kikuchijocelynshokumukeireki |
